The story behind family owned & operated Big Springs Water

Big Springs Natural Spring Water was established in 1994 and is a family owned and operated business. We source the naturally rising premium spring water from the foothills of the Flakney Ranges, 30 kilometres south east of Wagga Wagga NSW.

The Wilson family has owned Big Springs Station for over 150 years with Pat Wilson’s great, great grandfather buying the natural spring reserve from the government over 6 decades ago. When he put in a well in the natural pondage he noted in his diary, “the natural spring water could have commercial value.”

How Big Springs Water Started

After a hard period of drought, Pat Wilson was keen to diversify and decided to bottle the natural, pristine water from Big Springs Station. For 10 years, the spring water was bottled onsite 1 km from the old homestead. Due to high customer demand, the business expanded to a purpose built factory in Wagga Wagga in 2004.

Big Springs Water: A local business committed to the environment

Today Big Springs Water employs over 20 local staff, including Pat Wilson’s son Angus. We now have local depots in Canberra, Griffith and Parkes; delivering premium natural spring water to over 6,000 clients throughout southern NSW, mid-western NSW, the ACT and north-east Victoria.

Big Springs Water has always been committed to looking after the natural environment and reducing our carbon footprint. The lifecycle of our 15L water bottles is closed-loop and every effort is made to recycle all production materials. When the 15L bottles are returned empty, they’re thoroughly cleansed before being reused.
